Explore coastal scenery, forest landscape and ancient heritage on a remote 6.9km loop in breathtaking County Sligo. A picturesque stretch of the rugged Wild Atlantic Way, you’ll soon discover why this county attracts so many outdoor enthusiasts.
Taking two hours to complete, this relatively remote coastal walk starts at the northern end of Strandhill’s seafront promenade.
The route passes the early Christian site of Killaspugbrone Church and follows sandy, stony and gravel path through a variety of coastal habitats including sand dunes, salt marsh and pine woodland around Sligo Airport runway.
The loop returns on roadside footpaths and showcases simply magnificent views of Benbulben, Knocknarea Mountain and Sligo Bay. The trail ascends 30m overall.
