Explore the unmatched beauty of County Mayo’s Erris Head on this breathtaking 5km loop. Treating walkers to lush landscapes and salty seascapes, embrace this truly captivating corner of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Taking two hours to complete, the spectacular Lúb Ceann Iorrais (Erris Head Loop) is an easy route across grassy paths, earth banks, a wooden footbridge and open ground. Some parts may cross soft or wet ground, so a sturdy pair of waterproof boots is highly recommended.

This scenic trail follows an earth bank around Erris Head’s wonderfully imposing cliffs, rewarding walkers with view after stunning view.

Boasting unspoilt coastal landscape complete with crashing Atlantic waves, Erris Head’s northernmost tip features a railed viewing point that showcases views of Illandavuck Island, Pigeon Rock and some dramatic craggy sea arches.

Once you’ve completed this charming County Mayo loop, nearby Belmullet is the place to stop for that welcome cup of coffee and a sweet treat.
